Updated Advice

Lilydale Flying School is remaining open and operational at this time

LFS recognises that pilot skills (especially when learning) degrade as time passes between flights and that our clients have invested or plan to invest considerable amounts of money, time and effort to complete their pilot qualifications.

At this time, the best advice we have from Victorian and Federal Governments is that flying lessons continue to be deemed as educational and may continue under the current restrictions.

We will be taking additional precautions, including:

- Cleaning and sanitising aircraft before flying each day and between lessons
- Limiting the number of people in the LFS office at any one time to six (6)
- Clients (and staff) are asked to stay at home if they are showing any signs of illness including a runny nose, fever, cough or sore throat
- Face masks will be available for those who wish to wear them

Alternatively, or in addition, it’s fine to ask your instructor to wear a mask

We will also continue to hire out aircraft for solo flying to those wishing to maintain recency and/or fly for business.

Lastly, we understand each of our clients’ individual circumstances may or may not allow them to recommence their training. Please feel free to call our office to discuss your pathway at any time.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Where are they now - Jack Terry

LFS stays in touch with many of our past students as they progress through the world of aviation. Last week one of our former students achieved his wings with the RAAF after a very interesting journey.Jack Terry did his TIF with us in January 2011 and achieved his General Flying Progress Test (now RPL) in September while finishing Year 12. Working hard as a tennis coach and later as a baggage handler at Tullamarine he completed his PPL in April 2012 and then steadily built experience over the next year and a half including getting his tailwheel and aerobatic ratings and flying friends up to the Birdsville Races.
